Welcome to The Storywalks Higher Town Trail.
This trail rises above Minehead and climbs to the old thatched cottages that line the narrow streets of Higher Town where little has changed in a hundred years. Uncover the scandal surrounding Mother Leaky, find out who is buried in the church yard and where the secret nook called ‘smugglers doom' was located.
The approach to creating these trails is likened to a skimming stone, stopping at several segments of the trails and dropping interesting facts, myths and tales throughout.
The walks are designed to read aloud to family and friends and to embellish your experience of this place.
Start this trail at the large sculpture of a metal map which marks the beginning of the South West Coastal Path.
