Entered the Hall of Fame:1st December 2017
Trail Completed:30th October 2017

I am so glad I took on this beautful trail. It was a super 18 days walking and 3 days exploring in Llangollen, Knighton and Hay-on-Wye. With 3 toughish sections and some wonderful views, even in the rain, this was the best thing I've done in a long time!

Although the official distance is 177 miles, I actually walked 192 miles because I needed to reach accomodation and also missed a couple of turnings, costing me some backtracking miles!!!

The weather was everything from Storms "Brian" and "Isabelle", to fog, bright sun, thick frost and driving rain. A typically mixed British October!

The logistics of accomodation and luggage transfers was abley taken off my hands by "The Walking Holiday Comapny", and very gratful I am to them for their help. It meant I could focus just on walking, taking photos, enjoying the landscapes and meeting fellow walkers and locals on my way.

I'm not an "expert" walker, so did some training in the Brecon Beacons before starting the Offa's Dyke path in early October. Starting from Prestatyn, in the north, and heading south to Chepstow, by the time I arrived at the finish I was glad to take a rest, but am a lot fitter!

I would recomend all or parts of this trail to anyone with a love of the border landscapes and, for a lot of it, a reasonable level of fitness. However, there is a wide variety of terain, from very steep, rough going in the hills to pancake flat paved paths by canals, so its possible for just about anyone to find a suitable part for them.
