Andrew and Sue Holmes

Entered the Hall of Fame:12th October 2016
Trail Completed:7th October 2016

We started walking the Offas Dyke Path in the Autumn of 2013 just after we had both retired. It was a celebration of having the time and energy to be able to do it. We had lived on the borders for several years and had come to love the area, but work took us elsewhere. We began at Cheptow and took a week to walk to Knighton, including a rest day at Hay. It rained non stop on the first day as we walked above Tintern and we encountered low mist and high winds as we walked along the Hatterall Ridge - but we managed to arrive at Knighton in one piece.

In the Autumn of 2015 we returned to walk from Knighton to Llangollen, this time joined by our friend Sally.  This section took 5 days and included walking very close to our old home in Glyn Ceriog. Last week we completed the final section, once again with Sally, which included the long climb over Moel Famau and around Moel Arthur to Bodfari.

We have walked through some stunning and varied scenery, met many interesting people on the way and stayed in some great B and B’s. We will return.
