Fishermans Cabin on the Banks of the River Meon Corhampton and Meonstoke, Winchester, Hampshire, England, SO32 3NJ, United Kingdom, Tel: 07845559877
Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park on the banks of one of Hampshire’s finest chalk streams, the fisherman’s cabin is the ideal place to relax and unwind in the company of some spectacular wildlife. The locals are herons, swans and egrits and if you’re really lucky, you will see the blue and orange flash of a kingfisher.
The cabin sits on the banks of the Meon and with 280 meters of riverbank, offers some of the best wild brown trout fishing in the valley with the season running from 1st April to 31st October.
The cabin itself sleeps two (single beds) and has the necessary facilities – fridge, cooker, kettle and heater and a shower and WC in the adjacent hut.
There are also plenty of other things to do in the area, a trail of pubs lie along the river and the disused Meon Valley Railway line is a 500 meters from the cabin for walking, running and cycling. There are also two vineyards within close by, one of which is within walking distance.

There are no pavements in Houghton so guests need to be mindful of this when walking along road routes. We provide a head torch for guests to use during their stay. Amberley Railway Station is an easy 1 mile walk along the river but in the winter months the route is muddy so please bring suitable footwear. Pulborough and Arundel Railway Station are both approx. 5 miles. All stations are served by a direct train line from London Victoria which takes approx 1.5hrs.

two bare feet Winchester offers loft-style living to those looking for a break with friends and family, or to those travelling with work. Each of the 3 individually styled bedrooms have been designed to make guests as comfortable as possible and every aspect of the house is warm and welcoming. Once a scouts hut and then an office, the building has been totally re-invented with imaginative use of space, restored original features and quirky little touches. The name itself has been re-claimed as in the 1960’s a coffee shop called ‘two bare feet’ was located in the same courtyard. This is a totally unique house, available to book as individual rooms or in its entirety. The bedrooms are private with lockable doors, king size beds, 32 inch TVs, Wi-Fi, ensuite bathrooms and lounge areas. With high, brilliant white ceilings the interior has splashes of deep rich colour, giving a crisp and vibrant feel with glimpses of Morocco. Perfect for gatherings of any kind and also for families. The open kitchen/dining area means guests can relax and comfortably spend time together, with the separate rooms offering privacy as and when required. Children will love climbing the stairs to the king size, bunk style bed in little house. Underneath the sleeping area is a dressing and sitting room, with pretty window boxes where light streams in from the sky blue bathroom. Opposite little house is waiting room. This duplex style room is the largest of the 3, with a bright and spacious bedroom on the top floor and a sitting room with a double sofa bed on the ground floor. room 101 is similar to waiting room – downstairs there’s a Danish, deep turquoise, velvet sofa in front of a huge, floor length window and upstairs is an inviting and sunny bedroom. hannah'shannah's 16a Parchment Street Winchester, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8AZ, UK, Tel: 01962 840623
hannah's – an exceptional boutique experience! Located in a quiet courtyard in the heart of Winchester, hannah's Bed and Breakfast is fast becoming the accommodation of choice for visitors far and wide. For this is not your average bed and breakfast, it is more in keeping with a luxury boutique hotel in every sense. A truly unique and exclusive place to stay… The owner is Hannah McIntyre - a 26yr old with a passion to host, who has created a haven for even the most discerning of guests. Nothing is too much trouble for Hannah – guests are welcomed with a warm smile and a table laid with homemade scones and cakes, taken beside the fire in winter or on the pretty terrace in summer. The ethos of hannah’s is that the guest's comfort is of the utmost importance and Hannah strives to make each one truly enjoy their experience in her home. To that end the beds are super king size and super comfy. The three spacious bedrooms are individually decorated with quirky touches here and there and the copper showers, distressed headboards and bathing mezzanine make them reminiscent of a New York loft apartment. Downstairs there is a well-stocked Honesty Bar and Library, with oversized sofas cosily placed in front of the log fire. If slouching with a good book and a stiff drink isn’t enough entertainment, there is a carefully thought out information book for all that is going on in Winchester - recommended restaurants, shopping, theatre, lovely lazy strolls through the city to Cathedral Square or along the river and into the water meadows. Hannah is always on hand to offer suggestions for trips further afield to the beautiful South Downs, New Forest or Isle of Wight, all close enough for day excursions and there are plenty of historic sites to see in and around Winchester itself. Breakfast is a feast of local produce and Hannah’s delicious homemade granola, jams and marmalades. Teas & coffee are sourced by the town’s boutique cafes. There are enough tables and daily newspapers to go around, so conversation with strangers isn’t necessary. This detail, effort and care at hannah's has already earned quite a reputation, as evident by the 5 star "excellent' ratings on reviews website Trip Advisor and by the reviews in the press… ‘An intimate, deliciously dreamy bed-and-breakfast…an instant winner…bedrooms of cathedral like height…the bed was sink into sublime…city loft meets country cosiness…make sure you allow for hannah’s breakfast feast.’ CONDE NAST TRAVELLER APRIL 2015 ‘Beautifully designed…the second ‘b’ of hannah’s B&B is top draw…charmingly run…the verdict 9 out of 10’. TOM CHESSHYRE, THE TIMES COOL HOTEL GUIDE FEBRUARY 2015 Right in the centre of town, but magically peaceful at night. Each of the three double height rooms has a little wooden stairway to heaven (your own roll-top bath beneath the stars) and sumptuous bed linen…my new favourite mini-break’. CONDE NAST TRAVELLER FEBRUARY 2015 ‘Cosy rooms…a smiling Hannah cooks a fresh breakfast for you…romantic travel doesn’t get much more personal’. EVENING STANDARD FEBRUARY 2015 ‘A serene and stylish hideaway… a great base for exploring…the décor has plenty of character…neat little design touches pepper the rooms’. INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY JANUARY 2015 ‘As a guest you have to pinch yourself to remember you are not staying in the very best Aman or other first rate establishment, such is the level of service and minute attention to every possible detail.’ 5 STAR TRIP ADVISOR ‘Hannah herself has impeccable taste and an attention to detail that leaves even the most prestigious hotels in her wake.’ 5 STAR TRIP ADVISOR ‘The design, by the owner herself, is outstanding in aesthetics and realization with the very best beds, sheets, towels, accessories, suite and bathroom fittings etc., so that the comfort level is extremely high.’ 5 STAR TRIP ADVISOR ‘This is a truly stunning B&B - beautiful interiors and wonderful hostess!’ 5 STAR TRIP ADVISOR

Fishermans Cabin on the Banks of the River MeonCorhampton and Meonstoke, Winchester, Hampshire, England, SO32 3NJ, United Kingdom, Tel: 07845559877

The Neighbourhood
A stunning area of West Sussex. Houghton is a hamlet in the South Downs National Park making it perfect for hikers and cyclists keen to complete the breath-taking 100 mile stretch of national trail running from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is on the River Arun, where it has a bridge to a rural part of Amberley, 3 miles (5 km) north of Arundel.

Chequer InnChequer Inn, 41 High Street, Steyning, West Sussex BN44 3RE, UK, Tel: 01903 814437
The Chequer Inn is a historic 15th Century Coaching House believed to date from around 1440. Apart from supplying aaccommodation and a change of horses for passenger or mail coaches The Chequer Inn has also acted as a Court House, Jail, Auction Room, Post Office, Cornoner's Inquest office, Trading Post and an important local meeting place. For many years The Chequer boasted a 25 foot mahogany dining table and played host to many a banquet of mutton, beef, pigeon, and pheasant. In the 19th Century accommodation was provided in eight chambers ranging from gentlemen's rooms with curtained four-post beds to the drovers' quarters containing straw beds or palliases. Servants also lived on the premises, usually numbering around six according to the inn's documents from this time.During this period the Chequer consisted of a Smoking Bar and a Gaming Room. Teas were also served in the more genteel Lower Saloon and cock fights were also held at the inn.The inn today retains many of its original features, including open fires and intriguing timber-framed architecture which reflect its fascinating 500+ year history. Home-cooked food is served in the dining room, or near to the open log fire in the Saloon Bar, along with a good selection of fine wines and local and award-winning ales. A 100 year old snooker table is also available in the billiard/snooker room, and we have large screen plasma TVs in the Public Bar for popular sporting events. All of these features combine to make a memorable visit or stay in one of the oldest and finest inns in Sussex.

The front of the Inn is bathed in glorious summer hanging baskets, meticulously cared for.To the rear is an English garden that, quite literally, takes your breath away. Packed with almost every plant imaginable for a garden there are a few surprises in store, such as the Strawberry and Tomato plants that seemingly go unnoticed until their juicy red fruit appears. Tranquillity best describes the atmosphere as you sit back and relax, only to be replaced by awe and wonder as Mr. and Mrs. Swan glide effortlessly passed on the stream, not five feet away, with their half a dozen signets.Inside the Inn there is "Olde Worlde" furnishing, and an exquisitely kept bar. Boasting some very fine ales and an even more impressive wine list there is something to keep everybody happy, from the connoisseur to the casual drinker. The Landlord keeps a perfect cellar which is reflected by the success the family have had in a twenty-something year, three pub career.Steyning is a small town and, with the South Downs landscape and charming local architecture as a stunning backdrop, it is certainly one of the most picturesque in Sussex.
