Trail flooded at Exton & Meonstoke

12th January 2016

The SDW at Exton & Meonstoke is currently underwater. The record rainfall in December and continuing unsettled weather in January has caused the River Meon and adjoining winterbourne stream to flood the SDW. The route is impassable between the A32 and the River Meon. The usually alternative route use by riders along Shavards Lane and onto the Meon Valley Trail (disused railway) is also under water. Cyclists and horseriders should be fine getting through this but anything less than wellington boots will cause wet feet for walkers.

We are advising walkers to use the Monarch's Way via Warnford  to traverse the Meon Valley until the water levels have dropped. Please note that the Monarch's Way route follows roads for approximately 2 km.
