Green fields and blue skies on the South Downs Way

Happy New Year 2016

7th January 2016

Happy New Year to all.

It’s been a week of extremes and Christmas already seams a distant memory. But it’s this time of year that people make their new year’s resolutions to get fit and despite the wind and rain there are plenty of people out on the trail. It is very wet though.

This week I’ve been having catch up meetings with my Assistant SDW Officer Ben and the rangers to get this year’s work finished before the end of the financial year in March. The next 3 months will fly by.  I’ve also been doing a clean and maintenance job on some of our automatic people counters, having conversations with Highways England (What used to be Highways Agency) about habitat improvements where their network meets the SDW and compiling the last 3 months quarterly report.

However what has been much more interesting has been actually getting out on the trail and installing some new signposts. I hope that only the rain stops and the trail starts to dry out a bout it will be in excellent condition for the spring and summer to come.
