Hay on Wye Business Engagement Event

3rd March 2015

Free training workshop will help local businesses benefit from walking tourism

Places are still available at a free workshop in Hay-on-Wye on 10 March, which will help local businesses boost income and increase footfall. Part of a series of workshops provided by Walking with Offa, it will be delivered by Alison Caffyn, a highly experienced tourism consultant with over 25 years of experience in her field. The session will be packed full of invaluable advice and training, helping businesses to promote walking and open up new business and tourism opportunities in the area.

Wales attracts over 7 million walkers and cyclists every year, as visitors flock to enjoy the great Welsh outdoors. Walking with Offa’s project aims to harness some of that potential revenue and channel it into the local economy. The programme is aimed at anyone with an interest in new ways to boost local business, with an emphasis on the potential opportunities for businesses to tap into walking-related tourism.

Previous workshops have been real success, inspiring local businesses to look at new ways to attract walking visitors and encourage footfall down from the hills and in through the doors of local shops, eateries and lodgings.

The workshop takes place from 10.30am to 3.30pm on 10 March at The Swan Hotel in Hay-on-Wye. To book a place and take advantage of this opportunity for free training and business guidance please contact Walking With Offa Co-ordinator Lucinda James by emailing lucindajames@monmouthshire.gov.uk  or telephoning 01633 644779.
