England Coast Path: Where can I walk?

For your safety and to protect wildlife, please stick to the floodbank. No new Coastal Access rights exist on the riverbank or marsh here.

Why is the saltmarsh so important?

It’s an internationally protected nature reserve with lotsa of special plants and birds, who need to rest and nest here.

In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. You are at grid ref SD443259, on the western side of the River Douglas, north of Hesketh Bank.
