England Coast Path – Welcome to Liverpool Docks

You are now standing on the England Coast Path, a 2,700 mile walking route opening in stages around the country. This is the first section to open between Lancashire and Merseyside, running from Tarleton to Liverpool. It opened in early 2023. The route passes saltmarsh, sand dunes, seaside resorts and docks, with a wide variety of scenery and wildlife to enjoy. In time, the England Coast Path will continue around the Wirral, using the Mersey Ferry to Seacombe.

Continuing to the Wirral

If you want to continue your journey using the existing Wirral Circular Trail (WCT) and neither the ferry or replacement bus are running, head for James Street station, take a train to Hamilton Square station and walk to Seacombe on the WCT. Visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk for other public transport options.

What can I do on the England Coast Path?

Walk or use all-terrain wheelchairs.

Take your dog for a walk but  keep them under control and bag and bin their poo.

What is a National Trail?
