On high tides and in stormy conditions, both the trail and the main road can flood near Oldkiln Farm and Dubmill Point, at the southern end of the high tide route. You can use the high tide route via Edderside to connect Mawbray Banks and Oldkiln Farm. If walking from the south, you'll see any flooding as you approach the junction. If walking from the north and unsure, play it safe as you won't see the flooded section till you're nearly at the far end.
