Please note that the surface of The Ridgeway is badly rutted for approximately 3 miles near Avebury and so it is difficult to pass along, especially on a bicycle. Be prepared to walk/ride with caution and even the most skilled cyclists will probably find it necessary to dismount for the worst sections. The Ridgeway Officer is working with Wiltshire Council and the World Heritage Site to repair the surface and change management of vehicle access – check our news webpages for updates.
