Norfolk Coast Path "Brancaster FP5" CLOSED
What are we telling you about?
Work to repair a section of boardwalk started on 23 October 2023 along the Norfolk Coast Path at Brancaster (Footpath 5), between Harbour Way and Butchers Drove.
This is a large-scale infrastructure project and work is expected to finish early March 2024, weather permitting. Due to the nature of the work it will be necessary for this section of the Coast Path to remain closed while work is underway.
Work will involve complete replacement of the existing boardwalk using long-lasting glass reinforced plastic (GRP) materials, and installation of an aggregate path at the beginning and end of the new boardwalk. GRP is a strong, durable and weather-resistant material which will have a significantly longer lifespan than the current wooden structure.
The new boardwalk will be 1500 mm wide with passing places, rest stops and viewpoints, and should remain in a good condition for more than 80 years. Once complete, the project will allow far more people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the wildlife and scenery of the Norfolk Coast Path and Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
While this section of the Coast Path is temporarily closed there will be a temporary diversion route in place along footpaths, pavements and quiet country lanes.
We thank people for their patience while the work along this section of the Coast Path is underway.
