On 13th April 2024 we will be starting our 2024 challenge’ the North Downs Way. A trail covering a total of 153 miles of outstanding natural beauty. The route starts in Farnham and finishing in the historic town of Dover. On every section of this awe-inspiring route, expect to see amazing views, an abundance of flora and fauna and history spanning from the Neolithic times.
Much of the route was used by pilgrims on their way to Canterbury as well as marking the start of the Via Francina trail from Canterbury onto Rome.
Our journey begins in the picturesque town of Farnham, renowned for its charming Georgian streets, historic architecture, and rich craft heritage. Commencing from Farnham train station at 9:30 am, we'll traverse the landscape, passing a notable landmark that signals the commencement of our trail. The initial section features a relatively flat terrain, guiding us out of the town, through woodlands, and eventually revealing the breathtaking countryside.
As we progress along the trail, we'll encounter the enchanting village of Puttenham and traverse its scenic common, abundant with natural beauty. Our journey will lead us away from the trail at Guildford, where we'll follow the course of the river Wey, making our way into Guildford and ultimately reaching the train station. During the weekends we are leaving accommodation open for you to choose something that suits your budget or there are trains returning to Farnham from here.
As you book onto this walk you will be giving the option to join our WhatsApp lift share group to allow us to lift share between stops.
We have booked an option of camping between sections 1 and 2. The cost of this is £40 which includes camping (option of hiring a Boots On Adventures tent), air mattress, evening meal and breakfast, as well as a social evening around the fire with campfire treats. Booking for this can be found at https://bootsonadventures.co.uk/.../camping-on-north... should you wish to partake.
