Natural England has recently purchased a 240 hectare piece of land called Hexton Hills, on the Bedfordshire-Hertfordshire border. This land has been privately owned for generations and is a mix of arable land, deciduous woodland and conifer plantation, chalk grassland and chalk streams.
As part of NNR Week (20th - 31st May), local naturalist groups will be on site carrying out species surveys, in order to increase our biological dataset of Hexton Hills. We are inviting you to visit Hexton Hills for a morning session on Thursday 30th May, to explore some of the site and to meet some local naturalists.
It will be an informal session, where you are welcome to join us for a guided walk. These will be led either by our Natural England collegues and/or local volunteers - all keen to showcase the very best of this landscape.
Additionally, we aim to provide engaging resources such as spotter sheets, and crafting activites to ensure access to the session for children (and older!) - all welcome!
Please note: as parking is limited, we are running this event based on car numbers. One Car Pass allows for up to five people to attend. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
More information can be found via Eventbrite.
