Will you support “The LOOPY Walkers” to achieve their target of £5000 by donating on https://www.give.net/ThamesPathChallenge2019
The LOOPY Walkers are undertaking their final fundraising Challenge – walking the length of the River Thames from its source (in the Cotswolds) to its mouth (Thames Barrier) in London for Branches Homeless Hostel in Walthamstow, London.
Branches is 27-bed purpose-built hostel in Walthamstow, providing short term housing for single homeless people in the locality, and we need additional resources to provide a wider variety of services and opportunities for our clients. We are now looking to establish our own in-house specialist Clinical Practitioner who will offer an enhanced level of support through day-to-day clinical involvement to those with mental health needs. All the money raised will go towards this vital service. £30 will help provide 1 hour’s specialist support to our clients.
The LOOPY Walkers are a group of Trustees, friends, and work colleagues from all backgrounds who love to walk and to support the homelessness cause. We have so far walked 238 miles by completing the London LOOP (150 miles) and London’s Capital Ring Walk (78 miles), raising almost £9000 to purchase kitchen equipment and to help fund the work of the Resettlement Service. Our final challenge is to walk the length of the River Thames over the summer of 2019.
Day 11 of our walk took us from Barnes through the historical and ever changing parts of London to Tower Bridge. 172 miles down....only 12 to go!
3 of our Walkers are so committed to completing the entire route, that they will be going back to walk their missing sections (accompanied by some of their fellow LOOPIES - to make sure they do it?? or have they just got the walking bug and can't stop?)
We complete our Challenge Walk on 7th of September, 1 day ahead of our original schedule of 13 days.
If you see us on the way, why not stop and say Hello.
