This shepherd hut is 20min walk from the Thames path in the hamlet of Carswell.
The Shepherd Hut: This #HyggeHut was supplied by a wonderful local Cotswold supplier who makes stunning huts using traditional craft techniques and which provide all the luxury you would expect from a company dedicated to quality. A shepherd hut experience might usually be described as ‘glamping’ but for us, the focus is more on the glamour and less on the camping - the hut provides all things you could wish for and several that you might not even have imagined. It has been described by guests as a little idyll in the glorious English countryside.
The hut provides a cosy dining area, a king sized bed for an incredible night's sleep, a kitchen with fridge, hob and oven and an integrated bathroom with shower and a ‘proper’ loo as well as boutique toiletries. The atmosphere is very restful and outside there is space to eat whilst admiring the natural surroundings and explore the wildflower meadows. The countryside stretching out across the horizon on a clear day lifts the spirits.
There are always many tempting treats waiting for you when you arrive - including delicious cakes, the ‘Hut’ Chocolate Corner and plentiful tea, coffee and cooking essentials. Not forgetting delicious eggs from our own happy hens! A meaty breakfast upgrade, picnic supplies or a champagne hamper are possible extras for an even more memorable stay.
The Location: Situated in the idyllic edge of the Cotswolds, and close to a wonderful network of footpaths, it is surrounded by green fields and nature-filled woodland. The local village of Bampton was used as the location for the village scenes for the Downton Abbey TV series/film and the setting is picture-perfect. Some highlights include the barn owl flying by at dusk, the family of hedgehogs, the inquisitive horses looking at you from the next paddock along, the joyous birdsong and stunning wildflowers. Find a list of places to explore and a foodie guide to the area.
