Temporary recommended diversion at Knapton Woods

7th October 2019

Unfortunately the entrance to Knapton Woods, north of Wintringham on the Yorkshire Wolds Way has been obstructed by a caravan and any fingerposts in this area have consistently been removed soon after fitting.  The issue is being addressed by North Yorkshire County Council who are going through the legal processes to ensure that the path here, a bridleway section, is reopened.

In the meantime we are recommending an alternative route is available to Yorkshire Wolds Way users until the official route is no longer obstructed.

The alternative route is shown on the plan which can be downloaded below.  This route takes users past the Yorkshire Wolds Way Camping & Caravan Site entrance.  It is a good alternative, with some lovely views across the Vale of Pickering.
