What's Your Best Trail Pub?

There are so many welcoming cosy pubs along the Thames Path - from the source way down to the Barrier, welcoming walkers with local beers & log fires burning. There are well over a hundred pubs near the Trail, they're listed on our interactive map- click Food and Drink below the map. The Trail travels through many counties, and boroughs - looking at a few pubs near the Thames in just one county, Oxfordshire, The Angel on the Bridge, Henley-on-Thames, was listed in October as one of Ten Best Pubs with a View in The Guardian. Nearby is The Bird in Hand, another well loved CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) pub. In Abingdon-on -Thames the Brewery Tap was chosen as the town and village pub of the year 2017 by Members of the Oxford Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and on the bridge in Abingdon, there's The Nag's Head,CAMRA Town and Country 'Pub of the Year' three times and has featured in The Good Beer Guide 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018! Further upstream The Red Lion Cricklade and Hop Kettle Brewery have created the winning Beer of the Swindon CAMRA festival - Thames Path Trail ale, Liquid Highway - drink it and donate to the Trail!

All 15 National Trails in England and Wales are taking part, plus some trails in Scotland. Let’s discover which Trail pubs are great for a warm welcome for walkers, muddy boots and dogs, local beer and food, log fires, great views, history and more.
