Businesses Supporting The Trail - Fujitsu

4th April 2016

As well as our regular volunteer task days, we also run volunteering for businesses who are on or close to the river and who would like to help us to maintain our riverside trail. The following report is from a team from Fujitsu who spent a day with us scrub clearing the trail near Windsor.  If your business would like to help us maintain and enhance the Thames Path then please email us at

On a brisk, but thankfully dry, early March morning, this year, a team of staff from Fujitsu, the leading IT services company, who have offices in Bracknell, Berkshire, assisted some of the regular Thames Path volunteers in clearing a reach of last year’s vegetation growth along  the Thames Path near Old Windsor. The Team, from Fujitsu’s Legal Department, volunteered to undertake the work as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, (CSR) Programme.  One of the team, said: “Fujitsu allows and actively encourages all its staff, a day a year, in company time, to choose an event or activity to support a Charity or voluntary organisation of their choice. This year, our team wanted to support a local organisation to our Bracknell offices, and for many of us, who use and enjoy the facilities of the Thames Path in our leisure time, as walkers, wanted to contribute to its upkeep by helping with the Spring clear up.”

Under supervision, the team spent the day clearing several hundreds of metres of undergrowth from both sides of the Thames Path, West of Ham Island near Old Windsor. All participants really enjoyed the day, found it rewarding and informative, learning about the work of the trail staff. One of the team said “I have always wondered who clears the paths that I walk. Now I know! I am now likely to volunteer for similar work near to where I live”.
