A Gap in the Landscape (a circular walk from Goring)

Sat, 16/09/2017 - 14:00

Walking event

This circular walk starts/finishes at Goring railway station. Out route initially follows the Chiltern Way taking us up through Great Chalk Wood onto the Chilterns plataux. Here there are some fine views across Goring Gap. We descend through Hartslock Nature Reserve to the river and follow the Thames Path to Goring Lock. A short walk takes us through the village back to the railway station. On this walk we will have the opportunity to take in the special landscape of Goring Gap, where the Chilterns AONB meets the North Wessex Downs AONB - a landscape which has been forged by nature and adapted by man over thousands of years.

This walk is included in the Chilterns Walking Festival programme.

Meet at Goring & Streatley Railway Station (RG8 0ES), OS Gid Ref: 602805.  Parking in Village Car Park, Station Road.

Train: Goring & Streatley (London/Reading - Didcot/Oxford). Various bus routes operate to/from the station.

Accessibility Information
