Charity Walk for Homeless Hostel

06 Jun 2019

Walking event

The LOOPY Walkers are undertaking their final fundraising Challenge – walking the length of the River Thames from its source (in the Cotswolds) to its mouth (Thames Barrier) in London for Branches Homeless Hostel in Walthamstow, London.

The LOOPY Walkers are a group of Trustees, friends, and work colleagues from all backgrounds who love to walk and to support the homelessness cause. We have so far walked 238 miles by completing the London LOOP (150 miles) and London’s Capital Ring Walk (78 miles), raising almost £9000 to purchase kitchen equipment and to help fund the work of the Resettlement Service. Our final challenge is to walk the length of the River Thames over the summer of 2019. We completed 48 miles from the Source to Swinford in 3 days from 10-12 May. We resume our Walk on 6th June over 3 further days to Reading.

Branches is 27-bed purpose-built hostel in Walthamstow, providing short term housing for single homeless people in the locality, and we need additional resources to provide a wider variety of services and opportunities for our clients. We are now looking to establish our own in-house specialist Clinical Practitioner who will offer an enhanced level of support through day-to-day clinical involvement to those with mental health needs. All the money raised will go towards this vital service. £30 will help provide 1 hour’s specialist support to our clients.

Will you support “The LOOPY Walkers” to achieve our target of £5000 by donating on https://www.give.net/ThamesPathChallenge2019
