A new trail facility: The Downland Church of the Transfiguration, Pyecombe

10th March 2015

The Norman church is situated directly on the South Downs Way and is open for use by the community and visitors.

Each year tens of thousands of people pass this church as they walk, ride or cycle the the South Downs Way, mostly unaware of its fascinating history. Now, with support from the South Downs National Park Authority’s Sustainable Communities Fund, the church has installed new information panels to encourage more people to take a break and discover more about the history of the area. The church now also has a new toilet and kitchen, accessible at all times to walkers and cyclists. You can fill your water bottles, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful Norman Church before continuing your journey along the South Downs Way. If you are walking as part of a large group, for a small donation we can provide light refreshments to be available at a specific time. Contact Jill Munday on 01273 566276 or email: jill.munday@btinternet.com

Opening times arebetween 10am and 6pm in the summer months and between 10am and 4pm during winter months, except when church services and meetings are taking place. You can find out more about Pyecombe church by visiting: http://www.downlandchurches.co.uk
