Flooding at Alfriston and Litlington, East Sussex.

9th January 2015

The heavy rain that we have received over the last few days has caused some major flooding outside of Alfriston heading eastward towards Litlington Village. The footpath route and the bridleway route of the South Downs Way out of Alfriston are flooded, in some places up to one metre deep, therefore we advise anyone that is planning to walk/cycle/ride the trail should avoid this section. As the flooding spans as far as Litlington we advise users should take the bridleway route after Alfriston which you can get to by following North street out of the village, then turning right onto the Lullington Road, over the bridge and then you will see signs for the South Downs Way.

We will keep an eye on the water levels and will keep you updated.
