Green fields and blue skies on the South Downs Way

Training, rain and bandages.

4th February 2016

I’ve been back over to Winchester twice in the last few days. Firstly to help deliver a training day for public facing staff from Winchester City Council. The training, attended by Tourist Information Office and Parking staff was designed to give then more information about the South Downs National Park and the South Downs Way. The better informed people are the better service and impression they can give to visitors from near and afar.

A couple of days after that I was back over that way to install a new signpost, replacing one that got knocked over. We did manage to get it in, but it was some of the heaviest rain I’ve ever worked in.

The beginning of this week I was practicing my bandaging skills on my First Aid at Work refresher course. One of the many requirements of the job is to be first aid trained and it is always good to refresh the knowledge.

The down side to doing any training is that you are way from the desk or your normal work for a few days, so there is the inevitable catch up afterwards. The last couple of days have seemed like lots of responses to different planning applications or potential future developments that might affect the Trail. Sometimes they just come in waves.

I’m off now for a week, to play in the snow.
