Green fields and blue skies on the South Downs Way

May 2014

29th May 2014

Spring is moving into summer, the clouds are rolling in and the drizzle has started! Of course in between the showers when the sun shines its glorious and the South Downs looks green and fresh. The regular trail addicts are now joined by the summer visitors, event participants and fair weather cyclists. So the SDW is getting busier but there’s an air of happiness and a sense of community amongst those out enjoying the trail. Let’s try to keep this harmony between people and remember to respect other users. Cycle responsibly, slowing down and giving way to walkers and horse-riders. Walkers please be considerate and make space for cyclists and horses to pass were possible. Horse-riders please remember non-riders may not always know how best to approach or pass. Please give friendly advice to help horse and rider continue safely. Finally if your taking part in an organised event along the SDW this summer, please remember that the event does not have exclusive use of the trail and you must still give way and be considerate to other users.

Don’t forget if you’ve completed the SDW you can apply for a free certificate of completion. Just fill in our on-line feedback survey. The link can be found under the “Maps, Guides, Certificates and merchandise” section under the “Trail information” tap.

For all you gadget lovers out there, you may be interested to know that Trailblazer Guides have just launched an app version of the guidebook. This smart phone app can track your progress, highlights points of interest and allows users to submit their own content and reviews. Search for it via Google play or Apple app store.

Enjoy the showers!
