Green fields and blue skies on the South Downs Way

Ben Fogle visits the South Downs Way

21st November 2016

In late summer Ben Fogle visited the South Downs Way to film a short promotional video for the South Downs National Park. One of the many things that as Trail officer I get involved with is working closely with my Communications Team colleagues in the Natioanl Park Authority to plan and deliver communications and promotional work that uses and showcases the South Downs Way National Trail.

This video shows Ben arriving by train at Arundel Station, a short bike ride from the trail. Ben then enjoys some local food and drink, discovers geocaching aling the SDW and even give some of our Rangers a running race along the Trail. The video was released for World Responsible Tourism Day on 9th November.

The SDW is often used as a film location for TV shows and feature films. This is especially true for the Seven Sisters, Cuckmere Haven and Beachy Head. This part of the trail is often used to show the English coastline and used instead of the white cliffs of Dover due to it's undeveloped nature. See in how many films you can spot the Seven Sisters?
