We walked the Pennine Way in a Day

27th April 2015

We walked the way in a day !

We're delighted to say you did it !

The Pennine Way, Britain’s oldest and best known National Trail, was 50 years old on the 24th April. To celebrate this landmark birthday National Trails invited everyone to join in a mass walking event called Walk the Way in a Day.

People joined with family and friends on the 25th April and despite the challenging weather collectively completed  50 circular walks . Between us we covered the entire 268 miles of the National Trail. The walks that were completed are stunning and cover a variety of wonderful landscapes. They offer a choice of length and difficulty so there was something for walkers of all ages and abilities.

Everyone walking one of the specially designated walking routes contributed to a mass effort to complete the entire 268 mile iconic Trail in one day. An amazing team effort and huge thanks to everyone who took part.

Although Walk the Way in a Day event  has now passed you can still enjoy one of the 50 walks at any time.

Anne Clark of National Trails said

" Thanks very much to everyone who took part in 'Walk the Way in a Day' . It was a great achievement and a fabulous team effort , especially given the weather conditions ! The Pennine Way holds a special place in people’s hearts, it’s a real challenge and not everyone has time or energy to tackle it in one go. The Walk the Way in a Day event gave everyone the opportunity to be part of a really special walking event, and to have a wonderful walk too. ”

We hope everyone who took part enjoyed their day, what better way could there have been to say Happy Birthday to one of England’s oldest and most beautiful walking routes.
