In awe of Spine Race competitors

13th January 2016

Yesterday I spent the day at Check Point 3, Middleton in Teesdale meeting the staff and volunteers who organise and manage the Spine Race, and doing my bit to feed and water the competitors as they came in. There was a great atmosphere at the checkpoint, with every competitor receiving a round of applause as they entered the room. I am absolutely in awe of the mental and physical strength these superb athletes demonstrate. Their determination to just keep on going despite the pain they are feeling is incredible. This checkpoint is just over half way, and the toughest is yet to come, with Cross Fell just a few hours away.

Congratulations to all those who took part, and good luck to those who hope to conquer the Spine next year!
