Temporary Closure near Longcliffe, Derbyshire 5th November 2018

25th October 2018

A Section of the Pennine Bridleway near Longcliffe is the subject of a temporary closure to allow crucial repairs to a retaining wall to be carried out.  It is hoped that work will start on the 6th November and all being well be completed by Christmas.  This section of the National Trail is also part of the High Peak Trail.

It is estimated that the trail will be open 80% of the time including weekends and the Christmas period.  It will only be closed when there is large machinery operating or if there are structural issues that require closure.

Unfortunately in this case there is no safe alternative route.

To keep disruption to users to a minimum the work has been timed to take place at the quietest time on the Trail; it will be open over the Christmas period when it will be busier.

The team carrying out the work will make every effort to keep closed periods to a minimum.

The Trail will re-open as soon as the work is completed and this may be earlier than advertised.
