New Steps on Offa

29th April 2016

Powys Countryside Volunteers have been busy on the Offa's Dyke Path again, this time building a new set of oak steps on the route near Evenjobb. This particular section of the Trail has been eroding over the years and getting quite muddy and slippery on a steep descent to a road, so it was necessary to install some steps. Six volunteers, the Powys Countryside Volunteer Co-ordinator and myself, carried out the task on the day, with some preparation works done inside the day before. Although cold, we had a dry day for the task and I think evrybody enjoyed the challenge, and the satisfaction of seeing the completed steps at the end of the day. We have one top section to finish in a couple of weeks time.

You can check out the volunteers work on the Offa's Dyke Path facebook page  via a time lapse video of the afternoons part of the build, 2 and half hours in 40 seconds.
