Gareth's Great Welsh Walk

15th June 2015

If you happen to be out on the Wales Coast Path or Offa's Dyke Path over the next few months, keep an eye out for Gareth Axenderrie on his journey around Wales and make sure you wish him well and if possible support his cause.

Gareth  from Bedwas, Caerphilly  set off from Cardiff Bay on Sunday 7th June on his solo challenge to walk the entire perimeter of Wales. Gareth will walk the 870 mile Wales Coast Path, followed by the 177 mile Offa's Dyke Path, climbing Cadair Idris, Snowdon and Pen-y-Fan en route. The walk is estimated to take Gareth up to three months to complete, and in doing so, he'll be raising vital funds and awareness for Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

Velindre is Wales' largest non surgical Cancer Centre, providing services to over 1.5 million people across South East Wales and beyond. each year they treat over 5,000 new referrals and around 50,000 new outpatients.

You can follow Gareth's progress on Facebook at the Gareth's Great Welsh Walk Page and on Twitter @garethwelshwalk. You can also donate to Gareth's cause at

We wish Gareth all the best on his journey and look forward to his updates and blogs from his walk.
