Flooding on Offa

4th December 2015

The Severn River has flooded and at a number of points from Welshpool heading north, and hence the Offa's Dyke Path is not accesible at the moment between Buttington and Four Crosses. With continued rain on the way over the weekend and into next week, there is not likely to be any improvemnt of conditions in the short term.

The best alternative route is to join the Montgomery Canal towpath at Buttington ( grid Ref. SJ241089 ) and use this all the way to Four Crosses, where you will meet the Offa's Dyke Path ( Grid Ref. SJ264189 ) again and continue on the towpath to Llanymynech. Using the canal towpath will not add any significant time or distance to this section of the trail.

If you see or hear of flooding at other points along the Trail, please drop me an email with details / location to rob.dingle@powys.gov.uk
