How to use the interactive map

The map for each trail can be found on the trail’s Information page and on the Create your own trip page.

Use the map filters to display different types of information on the map. To expand the map filters box click on the yellow arrow box on the left hand side of the map.

Choose from one of the three categories on the left:

  • General Info
  • Equestrian Info
  • Cycling Info

Clicking the boxes to the right will display that category of information on the map.

Click on a marker on the map to find out more.

The distance calculator allows you to draw a line on the map – for example along a section of the trail or from the trail to a location nearby, such as a cafe or hotel. It gives you the distance of that line and allows you to generate an elevation profile of the line.

The distance calculator tool can be found at the top right of the interactive map. Click on the button to enable the calculator.

Use the ‘Draw Walk’ map tool (on the right hand side of the map) to draw a line between the points you want to measure on the map. Clicking on the map will add another point. Double click your last point on the map to end the line.

The length of the line will be displayed in miles and km at the top right corner of the map.

To delete the line you’ve drawn use the ‘Clear Map’ tool on the right hand side of the map.

To create an elevation profile of the line you’ve drawn click on the ‘Generate’ button at the top right corner of the map. The profile will be displayed below the map.

Can I get a GPX file for the trail?

You can download a GPX file for each trail by clicking the GPX Downloads tab below the interactive map (the map can be found on the Trail Information & Map page for each trail).

Clicking the button will download the file. You may need specialist software or an app to view the file.
