Trail diversions now signed

4th March 2016

All of the diversions in Cumbria are now fully signed.  The diversions due to the flooding in December 2015 will be in place all season. Copies of diversion notices can be downloaded from this website http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrians-wall-path/plan

There are also diversions in Gilsland, and in Newcastle along a section of the walker promenade.  They are both signed.

Your guidebook/map might not show the line of the currently walked Trail, east of Walton in Cumbria, between Dovecote bridge and Hollybush cottage. The walked line is along the road - do not attempt to follow the line to the north of the road that might be shown in your guidebook/map.

rest assured, in 2016 the National Trail remains a continuous route between Wallsend and Bowness-on-Solway.
