Pencoed ponies

20th August 2013

A new approach to waymarking is being tried on Pencoed Common south-west of Llangadfan. Pencoed is grazed by ponies which particularly enjoy scratching themselves on the metre high waymark posts that are normally used on Glyndŵr’s Way.

Of course this means that the posts get knocked down quite a lot which is no good for walkers trying to navigate on a dull day. Instead of the tall posts you now need to look for very short ones with bright yellow tops as you walk over Pencoed. We are hoping that the ponies won’t find these quite so convenient for easing their itches and they stay up for longer.
