Experimental surfacing on the Trail
20th July 2016We’re trying out a new surfacing technique on a part of Glyndŵr’s Way that suffers from boggy patches.
The method has a few big advantages. It is cheap, light enough to transport to remote sites and easy to install.
It is a thick green, plastic mesh and with the aid of a few fencing stakes we have pinned it over a 10 metre stretch of bog near Llangadfan.
As you can see from the photos it will take the weight of a walker, allowing water to seep through the holes but not over boot height.
If this works here there are quite a few more places on Glyndŵr’s Way that will be surfaced next.
