One of several surviving ancient meadows near the city of Oxford, this reserve is an echo of a bygone era. Oxey Mead is full of wild flowers, such as the great burnet in summer and green-winged orchid in spring. In summer, skylarks sometimes hover high overhead. Waders such as snipe and redshank may be seen in the wetter winter months, and the plaintive call of the curlew can be heard. This small reserve is managed by BBOWT.
