The Mineral Railway was built between in the mid 19th century to take iron ore from the mines on the Brendon Hills to Watchet harbour. If you fancy a diversion from the coast path you can explore some or all of the 11 mile route. You can walk from Watchet where it strats to Washford and then catch the steam train back! You can learn all about the history of the line in the Market House Museum in Watchet or at the interpretation panel at the Winding House, up in the Brendon Hills, near Raleghs Cross.
