A cottage in Lime Street, Nether Stowey now known as Coleridge Cottage was home to the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge during the three years in which he wrote his finest works including 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' - a statue of whom is on the Esplanade at Watchet. His collaboration with William Wordsworth at this time - as the pair, often in the company of William's sister Dorothy, roamed the Somerset Countryside and coastal routes - led to the birth of Romanticism.

The home he rented here is owned by the National Trust and you can explore the wildflower garden as well as the rooms which have been recreated to give the impression he never left.
