The England Coast Path National Trail will be a 2,700 mile walking route around the whole coast of England.

The coastal margin is the land between the trail and the sea. In many places this is now legally accessible on foot. Signs along the route will tell you where the margin is not available.

As of January 2022, you can walk over 80 miles on the England Coast Path in Cumbria, from Allonby in the north west, to Green Road station near Millom, and around Walney Island. See nationaltrail.co.uk for details.
