The Cleveland Way is being diverted between Whitby and Saltwick Bay due to cliff slippage. The diversion is for a minimum of 21 days in the first instance from 4th Jan 2021 and the path will be monitored to see if the closure needs extending beyond this.
The alternative route is to proceed from Whitby Abbey along the Hawsker Lane Road south east for 1.47 km, then turn north on the public footpath leading to Whitby Holiday Park for 550 metres to rejoin the Cleveland Way at Saltwick Bay.
