The Star Inn was built as a coaching inn over 200 years ago, and as with many other buildings in the village, supposedly used sandstone from the ruins of nearby Harbottle Castle. The pub is steeped in history and would have once been used by drovers crossing the Anglo-Scottish border just a few miles away in The Cheviot Hills.
Today, the pub is a popular village local in a peaceful and stunning location in Coquetdale within the Northumberland National Park and International Dark Sky Park. It is dog friendly and very well placed for relaxing or exploring the great outdoors. The pub sells newspapers and magazines from a small shop at the rear and is also an official Information Point for the Northumberland National Park.
