A 6km walk suitable for families (but not pushchairs) through the woods and meadows along Ravens Beck. Starting in the historic village of Renwick, we’ll meander with the river listening out for woodland birds, looking for the elusive watervole and enjoying displays of summer flowers. In the pretty village of Kirkoswold, we’ll explore the medieval remains of Kirkoswold Castle before tucking into lunch (provided by the North Pennines AONB Partnership). There will be an opportunity after lunch to join a talk on the wildlife, history and geology of the local area. A minibus will be provided to take walkers back to Renwick, or people are welcome to make their own way back along the river to where we started.
