Event Description

Join us in the peak district to celebrate the life of a very special young man, help us to raise funds to support other young athletes to reach their potential in a sport that Charlie loved. A special event on amazing trails, Charlie’s trails, the best that the Peaks has to offer. Charlie Craig went to sleep on Friday the 20 January and didn’t wake up, he was 15, he left his family, our good friends, Nick, Sarah and Tom, and friends in a state of shock and a huge hole in their lives. Here at MTB-Marathon and Cycle-tec we’ve had Charlie bombing around our event village on his bike as far back as we can remember, the news of that terrible day in January 2017 literally floored us, to think that we’ll never see his beaming smile again is devastating, yet we feel blessed to have been touched by his beautiful personality, Charlie wasn’t just another kid on a bike but an immensely talented cyclist and a young member of our little community.
We had already started planning for the 2017 season and its final round of ’17 at Hope Valley College when we heard the sad news, Charlie’s passing made us ever more determined to make our event at his school a special one. This event will never again be ‘just’ Round 4 of the MTB Marathon Series, but from now on will simply be THE #rideforcharlie.
