The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a 25km ‘super sewer’ under the Thames to intercept the sewage and clean up the River Thames for the good of the city, its wildlife and everyone who lives, works and walks beside and across the river.

The King Edward Memorial Park Foreshore work has created new land inside a cofferdam. This is where a large shaft will be dropped to intercept sewage overflows and divert it into the new Thames Tideway Tunnel. Look out for the brick rotunda that disguises a ventilation shaft of the Rotherhithe Tunnel opened in 1908.
