C16th farmhouse in peaceful location with wonderful views and walks right from the doorstep. Which for many years has opened its doors to people from all over the world. A home of character with oak panelled walls,beamed celings a flag stoned dining room which also has an orginal brick bread oven and ingelnook. Some people would call it quaint. Family members refer to it as the dolls house with its little windows and quirky details .

Jack and Anna have lived in the farmland around here all their lives as did 5 generations of families before them. The White Swan in Ampleforth was voted Yorkshire's Favourite Pub and has been in the awards for their pub food too. 3 miles in the opposite direction you will find Tommy Banks and the "Best Restaurant in the World" the Black Swan in Oldstead - bookings for here are often 6 months in advance.
If you are looking to visit a stately home ,Castle Howard is only 15 minutes drive from us. Sutton Park where they filmed Gentleman Jack and Duncombe Park where they filmed Victoria are even closer.
Carr House is situated between the Abbeys of Ampleforth ,Byland and Stanbook with Rievaulx just over the hill top. We are in an area made famous by James Herriot and Heartbeat.
Helmsley has a Castle,Walled Garden and a heated open air swimming pool which is open in the Summer months and is our local market town . The ancient city of York is a 30 minute drive or you can catch the bus at the end of our drive.
