Stunning coastal scenes, beautiful forest trails and epic cliffs to climb – this is the perfect summer event for mountain bikers of all abilities. Starting off right by the sea, you’ll take on 35 miles of beautiful off-road routes, with an optional 10 miles of extra technical riding through Friston Forest. Visually stunning and showcasing the best of East Sussex, this ride is not to be missed.
Starting from Martello fields in Seaford you'll head out and join the stunning cliff tops to see the views on offer from Seaford Cliffs. You’ll then head along the Cuckmere river to the beautiful village of Alfriston. Then it’s on towards the Exceat Visitor’s centre before climbing up onto the South Downs, where you’ll cross the river Ouse before joining the South Downs Way.
After taking in these stunning views you’ll start the descent to the Seafront by Brighton Marina where you’ll have the cliffs to your left, and the sea lapping against the wall to your right, all under the August sunshine. You’ll then continue along the coastal footpath as you make your way back to Seaford – where we will greet you with a champions cheer. The finish site will have lots of things to do if you have any family and friends who aren’t keen on cycling but want to come down and have a fun day out anyway!
This event is the perfect summer time adventure, with exclusive access to closed private paths you’ll experience a ride and views that members of the public won’t. The terrain of the 35 mile route isn’t too technical (a perfect introduction for mountain bike beginners), but it will still be a physical challenge – with some killer climbs! For more experienced riders, we can promise one of the most scenic and beautiful routes you’ve ever had the pleasure of riding – and our 10 mile route extension through Friston Forest’s mountain bike trail is guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping.
