Follow waymarkers and local signs
Other path users should give way to horse riders.
Getting out and about in your local area, or further afield, may mean you’ll encounter horses, for example, when crossing a public right of way with horses in the field or accessing a multi-use path that runs alongside an equine paddock.
Recently, there have been increasing reports of horses being seriously injured, made extremely ill and in some cases having died because members of the public have fed the horses, put grass cuttings into their field or because of direct actions, such as not closing a gate or driving without care near horses using the roads.
