Hill on the Wall Luxury B&B in Gilsland village overlooks the Irthing Valley and offers an exceptional location for walking and touring World Heritage Site Hadrian's Wall. Guests can be assured of a warm welcome and the highest standards of personal service at our Cumbrian B&B which nestles on the border with Northumberland and sits a mere 300 yards from the Hadrian's Wall National Trail.
The B&B is housed within a character 16th Century fortified farmhouse and features three beautifully presented guest rooms all with en-suite or private bathrooms. One acre of pretty gardens surround the farmhouse and plentiful private parking is on-site. We're perfectly placed for touring both Cumbria and Northumberland, with Hadrian's Wall forts and museums including Birdoswald and Vindolanda within easy reach. We're also just a stone's throw from Carlisle and the Northumberland National Park.
Guests have a choice of three uniquely styled luxury rooms, all of which you will look forward to returning to after a hard day's cycling, walking or touring. Caligula's Chamber guest room is a king-size double room situated on the first floor at the front of the farmhouse. The room offers spectacular views across to Hadrian's Wall and the Irthing Valley and has its own en-suite bathroom. Alternatively opt for our Hadrian's Retreat twin room with a private bathroom. This spacious room with cosy shuttered windows nestles at the front of the house and also features stunning views across to the Hadrian's Wall plus attractive mahogany furniture, a sofa and brass headboards. Our third guest bedroom is Flavian's Folly, also a twin room with an en-suite bathroom, colourful floor rugs, pretty pine furniture and courtyard garden views.
