Landslip blocks path

4th December 2013

Due to a significant landslip a section of the Cotswold Way near North Nibley has been diverted.

The path leading up the steep slope to the north of the Tyndale Monument at Nibley Knoll (between Dursley and Wotton-under-Edge) suffered extensive damage earlier in the year, and a further landslip towards the end of November has led to the diverted route also being closed.  The extent of the problem, and potential for reinstatement, is currently being investigated.

A revised alternative route is available using a short length of lane from the war memorial in North Nibley towards the hamlet of Forthay and thence by public footpath to join a bridleway and further short footpath to the Monument. A downloadable route description and map are available here.
